Buffalo Dining Club (Darlinghurst)

Every now and then one needs a quick reminder of some of their city’s finest go-tos. For me, one of those is Buffalo Dining Club. For the last since-I-can-remember I’ve frequented this enclave of casual elegance – hidden in plain sight – just off Victoria Street, Darlinghurst.

The ordering style here is simple. No fuss, low pressure. You select a cheese (typically Mozzarella or similar), and add two sides. It all comes together on one large plate with bread lathered with olive oil. No fucking around.

This time round, we skipped the usual order of Burrata, and opted for the slightly larger Mozzarella, accompanied by a crumbed, deep fried eggplant, and fried zucchini flowers. The eggplant was the star here, besides the cheese, naturally.

We add to the meal ninety grams of prosciutto served on hipster proof grease paper (or was it?), and a small plate of salumi, as who could imagine the aforementioned share plate without a healthy dose of cured delicacies.

Nothing says ‘me’ like a Mozzarella bar. I only hope you can say the same for yourself.
